OCD – Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder is a disorder where uncontrollable thoughts or impulses keep intruding on the individual. OCD is like an itch that won’t be scratched, but yet you can’t stop trying. The obsessive “itch” demands that the sufferer “scratch” with some type of compulsive behavior or response. On and on it goes. No matter how much you scratch, it doesn’t go away.

OCD can look different for different people. Some of the more common areas include contamination fears, thoughts that intrude, unwanted sexual thoughts, checking and repeating. These are only a very brief overview of OCD. It comes in many different shapes and sizes.

Therapy for OCD will typically involve using Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) as a big part of the treatment. Together we figure out what you are dealing with and plan treatment. Treatment allows you to take back control of your life.

When you are ready to take back your life, I’d be glad to help.
